Well, it has been 18 months since the triplets were born so I am going to try and remember as much as I can about that day!
The night before, Steve had taken me into the hospital because I was having contractions.
The next morning, January 10, 2007, Steve asked me "Are you feeling okay?" I responded with a yes, and off he went to work.
About 30 minutes later, I got up to use the restroom (which at the time was a major treat because I had been on strict bed rest for 8 weeks). Well, as I walked to the restroom I thought I was wetting my pants! Once I stepped on the tile floor....GUSH! Well, I called Steve and his response was "does this mean the babies are coming?" I remember saying something like "yes, come back now!" Then there was this back and forth...should we meet at home or the hospital. My mom was living with us at the time so she could take me. Finally, we get in the car....I feel like I am in one of those movies where the lady is being rushed to the hospital......I wanted my mom to run red lights....I was anxious!
We finally get to the hospital and I literally ask my mom to stop and I jump out of the car and going into the ER to find my own wheelchair.....yes, I was a freak that day!
Well, as a hospital staff member is wheeling me onto the elevator, I hear Steve's voice. I did not want to know how fast he drove from work!
We got there around 9:30 a.m. and the babies were born by 11:30 a.m.
Sloane Olivia was first....3lbs 3 oz; Reese Elizabeth was next (my OB went to deliver Brooks and Reese pushed him out of the way)....she was 3lbs 2oz; and Brooks Logan was last....3lbs 9oz.
I was so overwhelmed when I saw my three little ones at the same time...joy...excitement....plus, there were about 50 people in the operating room (or so it seemed).
I remember looking at Steve and my Mom and saying "that was easy". Little did I know the pain of C-section recovery!
The trio remained in the NICU for 5 weeks. They ALL came home on the same day....February 12, 2007. That is when our lives changed forever! :)
