Potty Training and Swine Flu

Well, the past week has been a little crazy in our house! Two days ago, the trio and I were off to preschool together (I work there while they attend school). Everyone was fine...I saw the trio on the playground while I was taking my class outside. Reese was a little clingy....but she seemed fine.
About 45 minutes later, the front office was calling my classroom to tell me that Reese had fever. I was able to get her into the doctor's office an hour later. Her temperature went from 100 - 103 in an hour! Needless to say, I was extremely upset....with all the news right now about children dying from the Swine Flu, etc.
Sure enough, her test came back positive for Swine. I was devastated.

The doctor assure me that we had caught it early and with medication Reese would be fine. She also added that she had already confirmed 15 cases just like Reese before lunch that day!

I later returned with Brooks and Sloane and thankfully their tests were both negative!

A few days before all of this, we had begun the process of potty training Reese...sort of...
She came home from preschool one day and asked to sit on the potty! Basically, she does "something" each time she sits...
This time she actually went number 1 and number 2! I was so excited...jumping up and down...cheering her on, etc.
Well, she started crying....I think she thought she did something wrong. I showed her that I needed to flush her "new deposit" and then she called down. I was not ready for the next words out of her mouth "I want to wear panties....I don't want a diaper". Well, I did not want to deny her request so I spent the next two hours with her in the kitchen on the tile floor while my other 2 were screaming to get into the kitchen with us. Needless to say, she wet 6 pairs of panties in an hour. Ugh! Since then we have resorted to "pull ups"...something I said I would never use (I am learning to not say that...he he he). She has been doing pretty good but still has not conquered "holding it" in between going.....it will happen.

So two big things for Reese in 1 week! I do have to say that she is now obsessed with washing her "hams".....yes, "hams" not "hands"...so cute!

Sloane has also picked up a new word..."slipperies". My mom gave each of the trio a pair of Elmo slippers. Sloane calls them her "Elmo Slipperies".

Here she is showing off the new slipperies

Here is Reese is her "Dora panties"....before she was diagnosed with the Swine Flu just 3 days later.

hey girl! Sorry about Sloane's fever! Hope everyone gets over everything quickly! We missed you today!

Do you have the padded panties for Reese? The only place I have found them is Target. Addison insists on having Dora panties so we layer Dora over a pair of the padded undies. It helps not making such a mess when accidents happen!

Hope you all recover quickly - yikes! That would scare me too.

We haven't done any potty training recently - going SOO slowly! Hate it. But hey, they won't go to Kindergarten in diapers right?!
